While asking for change is clearly what the protesters want. What do you think Eyptian President Hosni Mubarak should do to end the protests? Be specific in your explanation.
Also what role if any should the US play in ending this conflict?
I think to have these protests come to an end Presidnet Mubarak needs to empathize with the protestors and try to see the problem from their point of view. He needs to be rational about the situation and set up a confrence of some sort to discuss what both sides of the issue want to have happen. After doing this they can hopefully work to get jobs and a better economic standing for the middle class Eygtian's without the president having to step down from his position.
ReplyDeleteI think President Hosni Mubarak should help their country by fixing everything that has gone wrong in the past years. He should start doing things that will make the country and the people living in it a better place. Posssibly he should go back to the old ways of running the country since people seemed happier then. If the US was to take a role in this issue maybe they could help Egypt get back on the right track.
ReplyDeleteI think he needs to call in some help. Obviously he can't do the job right and needs help. He needs to think of what's going on and use common sense to attempt to fix it.
ReplyDeleteFirst off the US should not even think about getting involved in this ordeal. We have enough problems and conflicts in our own country to deal with than going in other countries and sticking our nose where it shouldn't be. President Hosni Mubarak should sit down with the other people with power and see what would be the best way to stop all of this. He needs to give the people what they want otherwise he will be facing death. Egypt should go back to the wy it was before when the people were happy and should stay that way to save the country from conflicts like this. And again it would be pretty damn stupid for the US to get involved due to the fact that there are so many problems in our home country. The US needs to keep their nose out of this and worry about their home country, too much time is spent dealing with shit like this and not enough solving the problems here.
ReplyDeleteIf you have such a large revolt i think theres obviously a need for change. There wouldnt be a problem if the people could be happy and live in peace. Its simple to see he needs to really step up and help give the people what they want, which is what his job includes. While he needs to make sure he is protecting his people with new laws, he still needs to make sure they are happy and supporting his ideas vs causing more revolt .
ReplyDeleteI dont think the US should get involved. Nothing good would come out of it that would help us so theres no point to get involved. I think the president should step down but people will still hate him no matter what he does so there is no way he can make up for what he did.
ReplyDeleteI think the US should stay out of it. It could create more tension in the middle east towards the US and we're trying to avoid that
ReplyDeleteThe president in Egypt need to provide some kind of change for his people that will ease the situation. The people in power are corrupt so he either needs to step down as president or remove everyone around him and replace them with officials the people elect. Either way some of the change the people are asking for needs to happen in order for the situation to be resolved. As for the US they need to remain neutral in the issue. This shouldn't matter enough to them for the government to take action.
ReplyDeleteI think he needs to either step down or change the way he is running things because the people are obviously not happy with the direction he is taking the country. The U.S. should help Egypt but only if they want help. If help is not wanted and we try to help anyways it could cause more issues for our country.
ReplyDeleteI think that the us should just stay out of it. It's not our business. We wouldn't like people all up in our business we would want to be able to deal with our own problems on our own. So we should stay out of it. Also it would just cause mOre problems for us and we have enough problems of our own to worry about.
ReplyDeleteI think if we help it could cause unnecessary issues that we don't need right now. it is understandable if Egypt really needs us that bad to help them though. And their president should chage what he is doing if everyone doesn't like or he should just step down and let somebody else try to run their country.
ReplyDeleteI think he should step down as president because clearly people are not happy with the way he is running things. If he were to stay president, he should drastically change how he is running things and if he changed to a way that was similar in the past, it could work because people were clearly happier in the past. I think the United States should help but only a limited amount. We dont want the Middle East to resent us more by getting invloved in things that they may think is not our business. If we would we could prevent violence and maybe end the protests all together and help out Egypt's government.
ReplyDeletei think that the president should step down. And we should not go there because nothing good would come from it.
ReplyDeleteInstead of getting in other countries buisness, we should be worrying about our own problems. We are in a crisis of our own, this is trouble that this country doesn't need.
ReplyDeleteObviously the president is not doing the job the way the people in Egypt want him to. One thing that their president could do is seek help from anyone that is willing to help him and reassure the people in Egypt that it will get better. They don't want that president in power any more so maybe he could also just give in and give the people what they want or even try to compromise a little bit with his people so he will stay in power.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the government should have a meeting and discuss a solution. I mean, that would be the most obvious choice to me... The people of Egypt need to even out their social statuses and fix the job market. Their economic growth is tarnishing society and they aren't ready for a revolution right now. Protesting would seem to be the most efficient solution, wouldn't it? The US does not need to get involved. We are always sending money to other countries and trying to help them out. Morally, I think it would be right to send something over and get involved... but our country needs help right now too. We can't afford it.
ReplyDeletearest the protestor or chase em out simple as that
ReplyDeleteI think to start of the president should apologize for Mohamamed Bouazizi's death because of the way the police treated him. He may not have had a permit for his fruit stand but that doesn't give government officials the right to beat him. Maybe if they would have treated him with respect he wouldn't have set himself on fire. His death was the spark of the protests, the president should really have better police officers that will treat the public with more decencey. It seems most of the protesters were concerned with their food supply, so Hosni should try to provide more food. He should also let the public know what is happening with the economy and what he is trying to do to fix things. If he is unable to do what is best for the country he should admit his error and step down to let someone else have a shot at repairing the economy. I don't think our president should get involved because we have enough problems that need to be fixed over here. They should beable to deal with their own issues in Egypt.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with your class discussion. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, we have to keep in mind the humanitarian aspects as well as the economic impacts of the Egyptian society. The events unfolding in Egypt do directly effect our country.
Keep up the great discussions!
Madame Schoultz
He should step down. He has lost control over his country and he has no future Egypt. The US should stay out of it and let Egypt solve this problem.
ReplyDeleteHe should step down he has lost control of the army and has no control over Egypt anymore, as for U.S. involvment we should get involved just for economic reasons but let Egypt's govrnment take care of it themselves.
